How can there be love between 2 people when we both will change. I wonder to what degree the belief in such a thing is colored by the intoxication of early stages of love. Yet, love grows deeper and stronger.... There are some, parents for example, that we always love. Is there something in us that does not change....? Must there be for us to love each other truly?

Partly you have to love the essence of that person. Both should have similar goals in life and the same values.

Thank you for your comment. I agree that for relationships to last, shared values are important...since as we change we must have in common things that do not change. With regard to loving a person's essence...that is what I'm pondering here. If it were so easy, people would not fall in and out of love. We love aspects of people that are not their essence (essence = unchaning, non-essential = changing) if indeed we have an essence. If we do and that does not change, and that is what we love most about someone - than perhaps that is a love that can last.
